Piero Proietti
Creator & Lead Maintainer of penguins-eggs | Independent Open-Source Developer
Piero Proietti is an Italian systems engineer and open-source developer based in Rome. Starting on 1 KB RAM microcomputers and the Sinclair ZX series in the early 1980s, he spent nearly four decades as a hands-on IT systems administrator and infrastructure architect for the Italian Air Force—experiencing firsthand the transition from legacy mainframes and coaxial networks to modern TCP/IP, SQL databases, and Linux virtualization with Proxmox VE.
Following his retirement, he created penguins-eggs, an MIT-licensed, multi-distribution Linux remastering and system-reproduction toolkit supporting Debian, Arch, Manjaro, Fedora, Alpine, openSUSE, and Chinese ecosystems such as Deepin and openKylin. Passionate about software evolution, lightweight desktop environments, and emerging silicon, he actively works on bringing reproducible live systems across x86, ARM64, and RISC-V (SpacemiT K1) architectures.
